Did you ever think anything could be as amazing as owning a horse? I didn't. Until I had children. While my youngest is still in his happy, smiley, gurgling stage, my three year old has brought us much laughter with his growing grasp of the English language.
Here's a small sample:
* "Mr., go play in the playroom." "No, Mum. I'd rather not."
* While playing Simon Says, "Simon Says...SPIT!"
* Recounting what he did at Grandma's one day, "Grandma said, 'no' and then Grandpa was sad." "How do you know Grandpa was sad?" "Oh, he started to cry."
* "Daddy says YES and Mama says NO!"
* "I didn't do it, and it's even not FAIR!!"
* "I WON'T!!!"
* While I'm eating a bowl of ice cream, my son pipes up confidently, "I can share with you, Mum. Right? I CAN."
* This is his new favourite song, "Dad, can you sing Baa Baa Black Sheep?" As Dad starts up the tune, Isaac hollers out..."Baa baa POO BALL POO BALL!" (those would be horse "poo balls" -> he discovered with delight this winter that they are great to throw for the dogs when frozen)
* When playing the 'Who Am I?' guessing game, my son ALWAYS says..."I have big long legs, and big big eyes. I have four arms and..." and the answer is ALWAYS...Grandma.
* "Let's play the OCEAN game" (the word association game)
* "Let's play the fart game" (the SWAT game)
Click on the pictures to visit game sites your toddler and/or preschooler may enjoy. These are my son's favourites.
This website offers a comprehensive list of online games and activities for toddlers and preschoolers. Check it out!
Teletubbies!
Always a winner.
Peep and the Big Wide World. Educational games that go at a pace that won't lose your child. My personal favourite!
TVO Kids website offers lots of fun things for your preschooler and school age child. Head to Gisele's Big Backyard for your toddler. Great stuff!
Fisher Price Online games for toddlers. There are "games" (pound the keys to watch what happens) for infants too. Pretty neat!
Orisinal Games. These are 'simple' games, but I have found my son is not yet coordinated enough for them. Young school age children may be able to play them. Either way, they're fun for mum and dad too!
